Step 3: Upload ASCII Files to Browser

 

    (Intended for use on individual work stations)

    To upload the MedDRA ASCII Files to the Browser:
      1.  Open MedDRA Browser.

      2.  Choose ‘File' – then Import MedDRA DB.

      3.  Dialog box notification appears: Importing data will delete the current database.

      4.  Click Yes to continue.

      5.  When Import MedDRA DB appears, click Select Files.
      6.  Type in the MedDRA version number.

      7.  Click OK.

      8.   At the Select MedDRA Files dialog box, browse to the MedASCII file location
            downloaded from the Web site in Step 1.

      9.  Highlight all the .asc files (there are 12 for a full upload).

    10.  Click Add.
    11.  The Import MedDRA Data window appears again. Click Import Selected files.
    12.   Dialog box notification appears: Importing data will delete the current database.
    13.  Click Yes to continue.
    14.   The browser will run for approximately 7-10 minutes.
    15.   Once prompted for completion, click OK.
    16.   Close Browser.
    17.   Reopen Browser - data at the System Organ Class level of the hierarchy should be displayed.
