MSSO Training FAQ

What kind of training is available on MedDRA through the MSSO?

A wide variety of training courses is available from the MSSO which provides vital MedDRA information enabling organizations to quickly integrate the terminology into widespread use regardless of an organization's present level of use or understanding. 

Training courses are offered in different formats:

  • Open Registration Webinars
  • MedDRA Free Training
  • Onsite Training
Are there any training courses available that are designed to address MedDRA version update issues?

Yes, the MSSO offers the MedDRA Versioning webinar which presents insights into the timing and extent of MedDRA version updates and the impact of updates within an organization.

Are continuing education hours/credits available for training courses provided by the MSSO?

MedDRA training has been approved for the following continuing education credits/contact hours:

California Board of Registered Nursing

Coding with MedDRA 8.4 hours
MedDRA: Safety Data Analysis and SMQs 8.4 hours

 

Are there any training courses that are geared toward writers and statisticians?

Yes. The MSSO offers a course to help organizations better understand and take advantage of the power of the MedDRA terminology.

  • MedDRA: Safety Data Analysis and SMQs - provides an overview of the features of MedDRA that relate to the analysis and retrieval of MedDRA-encoded data as well as providing insight to individuals involved in reviewing and analyzing coded information
What are the cancellation policies for MedDRA training sessions?

The MSSO reserves the right to cancel training events. If an event is cancelled by the MSSO, a credit for a future training event or full refund will be given to each paid registrant. The MSSO accepts no responsibility for travel arrangements or any other actual or perceived loss due to cancellation of a training event. Refunds will normally be processed within 60 days following the determination that a refund is due.

Open enrollment webinars

  • Registration forms are due one (1) week prior to a webinar. Specific registration and payment deadlines are shown for each webinar listing.
  • Payment is due upon receipt of invoice and must be received one week prior to the webinar.
  • Log-on information will be provided only when payment is received.

Free Training
There is a high demand for these sessions. As a courtesy to those on the waiting list, please cancel registrations in a timely fashion. If cancellation notice is not received, the MSSO reserves the right to deny attendance in future sessions. The MSSO reserves the right to cancel a session if a minimum number of registrations is not reached.

 

Has my training registration form been received?

Do I need to be a MedDRA subscriber to attend MedDRA training?

The MSSO offers open enrollment webinars available to all who wish to attend these sessions.

 

Can I be placed on the waiting list for a full session?

Yes. Please send your request to be placed on the waiting list, specify class name, location, and date, to mssohelp@ngc.com.

 

What class would a beginning MedDRA coder attend?

The MSSO recommends attending the Coding with MedDRA class. This course offers a comprehensive presentation of MedDRA's structure, coding practices, and hands-on exercises.

 

What are the options for payment of MedDRA training registration fees?

The MSSO accepts checks, wire transfers, and purchase orders. Payment details are included on all invoices. The MSSO does not accept payment via credit cards.
